Sister organization, SOCK, greets Santa in style

Looks like our sister organization over in Fairfield had a wonderful holiday party as well.  This was the first year that we split up and had separate gatherings.  The important thing is the families got together and the kids got to meet Santa.

Help with your fundraising: How to use our 501(c)3 for tax deductibility

We received a call from a friend of a newly diagnosed child yesterday.  They needed information on how to offer tax deductibility to community members who would donate to the family.

It reminded me that one of the valuable services we offer is the ability to run donations through CCC and on to the family so that the donation is tax deductible.   Contact us for details.

We are a community composed of families whose kid’s have had (or still have) cancer.  We have all been down the fundraising road, and know that the tax deductible nature of a donation is a very real benefit.  We are here to help, and are grateful we can supply this service to you.

If you have any questions just contact one of us and we will be glad to explain what we do.

How to donate your vehicle to CCC

We’re asked quite often how to donate a vehicle to CCC. Here’s the link for the company we use. The checks they send us really help support the programs we offer, and we are deeply thankful to those who have donated.

Holiday Gala Coming Up December 3

Our annual holiday gala is coming up December 3

This year we’ll be greeting Santa from 2 pm to 5 pm at St. Andrew’s Church on Arnold Drive in Sonoma.

This is our big gathering of the year, and an event where we sometimes see kids who have grown up and moved on — so it’s a heart-warming time, a time to celebrate and a great opportunity to see the kids be kids.

The kids made their painted pottery gifts for the parents last weekend at The Pottery Studio in Santa Rosa, so that little job is complete.  Now it’s time for us parents to gather gifts for the kids.  Let Janeen know if your child has a special item on their list for Santa to bring, and we’ll add that to our “to do” list.

Thank you St. Andrew’s for coming through for us one more year, and thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who have made this a very special year for the kids.

Thanks Dr. Greg!

We’d like to thank Dr. Greg Apostle for his enlightening talk at our support group meeting last Tuesday. Among all the concerns a parent has during their child’s treatment, dental worries are something that we can do something about.

Dr. Greg’s three action points while your kid is in treatment:

1 – Watch the diet. Go for soft foods, less carbs and sugar (good luck with that!)

2 – Clean teeth often. Lots of brushing with a soft brush after every meal and get between the teeth with floss, but be gentle. We all know about platelet counts during chemo…The goal is to avoid infections brought on by bacteria, fungi and viruses.

3 – Rinse with a product like ACT, which doesn’t have alcohol but does help keep teeth clean and has some flouride in it for strengthening growing teeth.

Dr. Greg is a real resource, and if you have questions I’m sure he’d be willing to help. Just tell him you’re from CCC…

Graph Illustrates Where Donations Go

We’re proud that we spend over 83% of your donations on direct support to families, and have created the graph below to illustrate how we spend your money.  Further explanation is on the “Donations” page.

If you have any questions we are always open.  Just call or email.
